A creative and art direction project together with Mariluz Vidal, to explain the stores of the Australian brand Aesop, along with its designers and products. A project with a crucial documentation phase to shape a narrative where architecture is explained through the sensory world. Their products transmit aromas, textures, essences, tones and colours that can be related to the philosophy of the stores and materials. To enter the store is an exquisite experience for the customer, as their body perceives the transition through stimulation of smell, touch, sight, in a silent space with a respectful welcome. It all starts with a cup of tea.
Throughout their 30 years Aesop have established new stores, by immersing themselves in new landscapes, researching local materials, engaging with local culture and history, and of course developing new fertile relationships. Their interest in creating intelligent and sustainable design through research extends to all aspects of the brand, and a belief that well-thought-out design improves our lives.
Taxonomy of Design: A tribute to the creative processes, materials and features that distinguish Aesop spaces, and the designers and architects with whom they collaborate. Celebrate a unique approach to architecture and retail design that respects community, culture and history. We worked to stand out from other architecture films and magazines by giving human depth, regarding an often elitist and unattainable world with irreverence.
The Dimorestudio builds a non-linear narrative that blurs nostalgia, current sensations and hopes. They create spaces and images that tell stories like the Aesop store in the heart of Milan where we dream our way to the pantries of early 20th century villas. From the meticulous research to the careful and rigorous selection of pieces, textures, perfumes and sounds; from abstract to palpable; from the synopsis to the result; each unit of the set feeds the pleasures of the senses and represents the creativity of Emiliano Salci and Britt Moran.
Dimore is a home. An environment to be “lived”. a series of moments and feelings. A lucky surprise.
“For us, design is a 360-degree process, both for the gallery and for all the spaces in which we intervene, and it combines the different eras and languages that have a common sense, a common thread”. —Britt Moran and Emiliano Salci, Dimorestudio
